Using simple, actionable tools to drive inbound traffic
So many brands assume that you need a big team and a bigger budget to meet your marketing goals, whether you want to grow your presence on social media, work with influencers, or simply drive traffic to your website. While it certainly helps, there are simple and actionable ways that you can drive traffic.
Let’s talk about it!
Start at the beginning and do your research
If you want to drive traffic, you need to start with the essentials of marketing, and that means understanding your audience and understanding demand. If you already have website data (like search data) and a social media presence, review those to see what insights you can gather. Here are a few questions to consider:
What are people searching for?
What pages or products are popular?
What are some of the frequently asked questions?
What are people saying on social media?
These types of questions should give you an idea of what your audience is already thinking and interested in, which can help.
In addition to your own data, you can also search relevant topics on platforms such as Google Trends or Reddit to see what people are interested in, searching for, etc.
Repurpose Content
Think about the content you’ve already created, is there a post that performed really well, increased link clicks, and drove people to your website? Repurpose it!
Do you have an idea that you think can drive people to your website? Repurpose it in several ways!
In case you’re wondering what that might look like, here’s an example: one blog article (like this), can be turned into…
An image for social media (i.e. LinkedIn)
A video for Instagram, Tiktok, and/or YouTube Shorts
A segment in your email newsletter
And the list goes on.
You don’t necessarily need more and constant ideas all the time, learning to stretch your content can be valuable too.
Optimize for search engines and AI
Again, you may be thinking you need a big budget to start, but here are a few ways to optimize with little to no budget.
If you’ve done the research outlined above, using your own data and tools like Reddit and Google to figure out what people are asking and searching for, you can use this to narrow down important and useful keywords. Once you have an idea of those keywords, use them in your marketing, such as on your website, on website header, when creating content, and in your social media bios.
Make things easy
If someone has to jump through hoops to book an appointment with you, or check out your website, you’re likely increasing the chance of them losing interest, so it’s important to make things easy and user friendly. Here are some tools that may help you simplify things:
Calendly - For scheduling appointments
Linktree - For displaying all your important links
Bitly - For shortening links for social
Actually share your website
You can’t expect people to visit your website if they’re not actively being directed there or seeing it. Here’s what that might look like:
Referencing an article or product/service? Direct people to your site.
Answering a question? Answer it and direct people to your site to learn more.
Have a card or brochure? Include your website link.
Do you have a link in your email signature?
Stay consistent
There’s a reason why people say consistency is key. Stay present and find a system that works and that you can repeat over time. And don’t get discouraged if things don’t happen overnight!
