Woman-owned businesses we love

We recently announced a shift in our focus towards dedicating our work to supporting women-owned and women-serving businesses, you can read more about that here.

With that in mind, let’s dig into some of the woman owned businesses I love!

Sugarbones

Sugarbones is a company based out of Ontario, Canada that offers enamel pins, stationary (like stickers), apparel, and bags. Items like the enamel pins and stickers often feature women in pop culture, such as singers like Sabrina Carpenter and Chapell Roan, and women from horror films. They are also known for their Star Bags which are perfect for those who love to customise their bags with pins, keychains and trinkets. This is because the Star Bag features a clear display pocket and a removable pin insert. These are also offered in a mini size, and you can order add ons like extra pin inserts or keychain pouches.

Why I love them

I’ve been a horror fan for as long as I can remember, I also love enamel pins, so when I saw the horror girls pins online, I knew I needed to grab a few. By the time I saw them in person  at FanExpo in Toronto, I already had my list. I’ve also eyed various bags they offer because I love the option of customizing your bag!

Baggu

This was one of those cases where TikTok influenced me… and the hype was real!

Baggu is a sustainable brand that offers bags and accessories. Among their most popular items, and my favourites, are their Crescent Bags (medium is probably the most popular size) and their reusable bags.

Why I love them

Like I said, the hype was real. These bags hold SO MUCH. They’re also easy to wash, the company is sustainable, and many of the prints and colours are so cute and fun! The reusables are my go-to grocery bags now and I often get complimented when using them.

Canada Pooch

If you have a dog, you’ve probably heard about Canada Pooch, which sells dog gear and outerwear such as boots, jackets, and harnesses. They also sell dog toys and even some accessories for people such as treat pouches, dog walking bags, and more.

Why I love them

The boots keep my dog’s feet warm and dry and the handsfree treat pouch is convenient.

They also did a really cute Barbie collection when the movie came out in 2023, which included my favourite item from Canada Pooch, a super cute Barbie logo fanny pack. I love it because it’s pink, it’s cute, and I can put almost everything I need while out with my pups in it - including extra bags.

Hero Cosmetics

Hero Cosmetics has a bunch of products, but they made this list based on one product alone… The Mighty Patch (Original). The Mighty Patch (Original) is a hydrocolloid patch designed to shrink pimples and pull out all that gunk. If you’ve ever seen a pimple patch, you may have wondered, “Do they really work?” These do!

And that’s why I love them! These are the best.

Sukoshi Mart

Right now I’m finding myself being drawn towards Korean (and Japanese) beauty and skincare products. While there are several websites to shop for KBeauty and skincare, Sukoshi Mart is Canadian and you can visit their stores in various locations across Canada, so for someone like me who likes to see things in person, this is a great option! Sukoshi Mart also sells lifestyle items, like blind boxes (so hot right now), stationary, accessories, and more. They offer a large selection of Kpop related items such as albums and merch as well.

Why I love them

As I mentioned, I love the option of going into a store to see items (especially beauty and skincare) in real life rather than relying on online images which aren’t always accurate. I also love the option of supporting a Canadian owned brand (and of course, a woman owned brand)! I also mentioned I love trinkets, so that’s another reason why I love them!

Do you have any woman-owned businesses that you love? We’d love to know more!
